10 Meter Indoor Pistol and Rifle Classes and Rules
Matches are every Wednesday evening starting at 6:30 pm. Practice begins about 5:00 pm. The course of fire is six ten minute rounds of ten shots. 60 shots total. Shooters receive thirteen targets. Twelve targets for the match and one for practice. Shooters may print additional targets from this website under the tab ' targets'. There is a class for everyone to select. See classes below.
Any 10 meter Air Pistol or Rifle. ( 6 ft-lb of energy or less )
Sights: Open or Electronic dot etc. ( Class specified )
Ammo: Any commercial .177 pellet. Flat head type only. ( NO domed head pellet )
A spotting scope is very handy ( 10-20 power works well ). Some people use binoculars.
About 100 rounds of ammunition (60 rounds for the match the rest for some practice).
A range bag or gun box to case and uncase your pistol or rifle at the firing line on bench.
A breach or muzzle indicator is required.
Safety classes or classes with safety lens must be worn at all times.
Ear protection optional.
1 ) ISSF ONE HAND FREE STANDING 10m PISTOL
a ) Standing position only, no supporting contact allowed. Refer to ISSF rules 8.7.1
b ) Sights: Any open sights mounted to gun that fits in measuring box per ISSF rule 8.12 and meet rule
22.214.171.124 (below) is allowed. ( Generally factory sights will pass )
2 ) ISSF SUPPORTED 10m PISTOL
Class A. Age 56-65; Standing position only, Refer to: 1.0 ISSF Supported Rest Shooting rules and using open sights per ISSF rules 126.96.36.199 and 8.12. See below.
Class B. Age 66-71,, Standing position only, Refer to: 1.0 ISSF Supported Rest Shooting rules and using open sights per ISSF rules 188.8.131.52 and 8.12. See below.
Class C. Age 72 + , ( 71 yr Allowed if turning 72 yr in current year) and physically challenged allowed. Refer to: 1.0 ISSF Supported Rest Shooting rules and using open sights per ISSF rules 184.108.40.206 and 8.12. See below.
ISSF 220.127.116.11 Sights ( Pistol ):
a) Only open sights are allowed. Sights using fiber optic, light enhancing or reflecting color surfaces are prohibited. Optical, mirror, telescope, laser-beam, electronically projected dot sights, peep sights etc. are prohibited;
b) Any aiming device programmed to activate the firing mechanism is prohibited;
c) No protective covering is permitted on front or rear open sights;
d) 10m and 25m Pistols must fit within specified measuring boxes with sights mounted on the pistols (see PISTOL SPECIFICATION TABLE, Rule 8.12 See below);
ISSF Rule 8.12 ( PISTOL SPECIFICATION TABLE ) Box boundary: 420 mm x 200 mm x 50 mm.
e) Correcting lenses and/or filters must not be attached to the pistol.
f) Corrective lenses or eyeglasses and/or filters or tinted lenses may be worn by the athlete.
3 ) ONE or TWO HAND FREE STANDING 10m PISTOL ( Club Class )
Unlike ISSF this class allows a two hand hold and any sight support.
a) Free Standing position only.
b) Pistol may use any mounted sighting including electronic sights, scope etc.
4 ) ONE or TWO HAND 10m SUPPORTED PISTOL ( Club Class )
Unlike Benchrest Pistol or Freestyle Pistol shooters follow the standard course of fire shooting 10m pistol single bull targets. ( Standard course of fire is 6 rounds of 10 shots - 60 shots total ). Shooters may grip pistol as desired and rest on any part of pistol. No other contact allowed. Hands cannot touch front support. See the following:
a ) Supports maybe any front rest or bench's adjustable rest. Rest with pointed legs must have a solid base under each leg.
b ) Pistol may use any mounted sighting including electronic sights, scope etc.
c ) Class 1 ) Age up to 71 yrs. Standing position only. Pistol may use any mounted sighting including electronic sights, scope etc.
d ) Class 2 ) Age 72+ and Physically challenged. Standing position or seated ( no spec on seat ). Exceptions may be declared by MD. Pistol may use any mounted sighting including electronic sights, scope etc.
5) BENCHREST 10m PISTOL ( Club Class )
Unlike the other pistol shooting disciplines this requires a 3-point supported hold in a seating position only. The rules are as follows:
a) Any Front Rest such as bags, Bipod, adjustable mechanical etc, Rest with pointed legs must have a solid base under each leg.
b) 177 cal commercial flat head type pellets only. Power up to 6 ft- lbs energy max.
c) Sitting postiton only. No spec on seating type.
d) Three point hold only.
1) Example A: 1st pt - pistol barrel only may be placed on any front rest, ( attached Bi-pod allowed ). 2nd and 3rd pts both elbows resting on bench top. Shooter may hold pistol's grip as desired without touching front rest.
2) Example B: 1st pt - pistol barrel only may be placed on any front rest, (attached Bi-pod allowed ). 2nd pt - one elbow resting on bench top while holding pistol's grip and 3rd pt - supporting hand resting on bench top under grip's heal. ( elbow not touching bench top and hands not touching front rest )
Note: When using a one-piece pistol rest hands cannot lean against vertical part of rest.
e) Course of fire maybe 6 rounds of 10 shots ( two 5 bull rifle targets-1 shot per bull ). 60 shot total ( standard course of fire ). OR 60 continuous minutes of eight 5 bull rifle tartgets. 40 shot total match. Match specified.
f) Three Sub-classes for sights:
1) Electronic sights ( Red, Green etc. ).
2) Open sights
6) FREESTYLE 10m PISTOL ( Club Class )
Unlike any of the other pistol disciplines any style of shooting permitted. Includes ANY modifications to the pistols, sights or rest., Any type of sights maybe allowed such as peep sights, scopes and electronic sighting. Any type of rest may be used such as Bags, one or two piece bench rests and bipods are allowed. Bench rest with adjustable pointed legs must have a solid base of some type under each leg.
1 ) ISSF 10m RIFLE OFF HAND FREE STANDING
a) Standing position only, Refer to ISSF rule 7.6.1
b) Sights must be per ISSF rule 18.104.22.168 For Sights. ( See rule below )
22.214.171.124 Sights Rule ( Rifle )
a) The front or rear sights may have light or tinted lenses or a polarizing filter, but the sights may not have any system of lenses.
b) No Light enhancing system, optical sight, optical system or telescope may be attached to the rifle.
c) A single corrective lens may be attached to the rear sight only; or the athlete may wear corrective or tinted lenses.
d) Any aiming device programmed to activate the firing mechanism is prohibited.
e) A blinder may be attached to the rifle or to the rear sight. The blinder must not be more than 30 mm deep nor extend further than 100 mm from the center of the rear sight aperture on the side of the non-aiming eye. A blinder must not be used on the side of the aiming eye; and a prism or mirror device may be used when shooting from the right shoulder while aiming with the left eye, providing it does not have a magnifying lens system. It must not be used when shooting from the right shoulder when using the right eye.
2 ) ISSF SUPPORTED 10m Rifle
Class A ( Age 56-65 ) - Standing position only, Refer to ISSF Supported rule 8.1
Class B ( Age 66-71 ) - Standing position only, Refer to ISSF Supported rule 8.1
Class C ( Age 72 + or 71 turning 72 in current year ) - Physically challenged allowed. Standing or Seated (no backrest) Refer to ISSF Supported rule 8.1 Exceptions may be declared by MD depending on equipment availability.
*Sights must be per ISSF rule 126.96.36.199 Sights. ( See rule above )
3 ) BENCHREST 10m RIFLE ( Club Class )
a) Any 10m meter rifle with mounted front bipod only. ( No other rest allowed )
b) Rifle should be shouldered. Shooter may use the assistance of any type of soft rear bag. ( no adjustable rear rest allowed ).
c) Shooter should be seated. ( Any type of seating is allowed in this club class. ).
d) Sights must adhere to ISSF rule 188.8.131.52 Sights. ( See rule above ).
4 ) FREESTYLE 10m Rifle ( Club Class )
Any style of shooting permitted. Includes ANY modifications to the pistols, sights or rest., Any type of sights maybe allowed such as peep sights, scopes and electronic sighting. Any type of rest may be used such as Bags, one or two piece bench rests and bipods are allowed. Bench rest with adjustable legs must have a base of some type so as to not damage the rubber bench top surface.
So bring enough pellets for the match and some practice.
